The Lincoln Council for the Arts is a public, non-profit corporation whose goals are to improve and enhance the quality of life in Lincoln, Montana by providing cultural programs, workshops, classes, resources and financial support to the arts in all its forms.
Established in 1988, we've brought more than 58 fine-art performances to Lincoln School or the community, such as Rob Quist, John Dunnigan and Jeni Fleming. In 2003 the Arts Council co-sponsored a 150 member choral orchestra from the Ukraine. Local families welcomed musicians into their homes for two nights while they set up and rehearsed for an unforgettable evening performance. The Arts Council is responsible for 17 adult-ed. classes, 12 speaker events, 13 artists-in-residence at the schools, literature classes, Missoula Children's Theater performances, field trips and band scholarships. Santa's Workshop is an annual favorite among the youngsters and in recent winters we have hosted five-week film fests for the local movie buffs. Ed Grantier has allowed us to help renovate his barn for a spectacular old-time barn dance site. In 2013, The Lincoln Art & Music Festival made a come-back to the delight of those who appreciate, purchase and create art. The proceeds of this function benefit the arts in Lincoln. More recently a committee led by Rick Dunkerley has begun efforts in establishing a sculpture park. If successful, this project will bring the work of local and internationally-known artists to our forests and parks, enhancing local economies, education and the quality of our lives.
